Background

Thomas Heverin is a Ph. D. student in Information Science at the College of Information Science and Technology (the iSchool) at Drexel University.  His current research examines how analysts from military and security agencies use intuition for deception detection in online environments. The Cognitive Continuum Theory is used as the theoretical framework. Previous research focused on law enforcement agencies' use of social media for information dissemination and citizens' use of social media for collective sensemaking during crises. Thomas served six years as a Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy gaining experience as an an Operations Officer, Electrical Engineering Officer, and Business Management Officer.
